About us

The City of London Police Authority is responsible for holding the City of London Police to account for running an effective and efficient service and setting policing priorities incorporating views of the local community.

The City of London is home to over 8,000 residents and has a daily population of 500,000 workers, students and visitors. The City is also a major tourist destination with a vibrant night time economy. The City of London Police is responsible for the safety and security of people in the Square Mile and is the national policing lead for economic and cyber crime.

The role 

The Police Authority undertakes a broad range of strategic and political stakeholder engagement You will deliver and coordinate strategic communications and engagement activity working with colleagues across the City of London Corporation and City of London Police to maximises the influence and profile of the Police Authority on strategic policy areas. You will also be responsible for coordinating engagement activity that enables the Police Authority to understand and incorporate the views of its communities in its strategic planning and decision making.

Essential requirements:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent OR experience of working in a strategic communications and engagement role in a relevant sector.
• A strong knowledge and understanding of communications or public relations and its use in the public sector
• A good understanding of the principles and practicalities of effective stakeholder engagement including stakeholder mapping
• Ability to use insight and analysis to shape communication and engagement strategies and evaluate impact

You must be able to demonstrate:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively across stakeholder groups to achieve positive outcomes
• Strong organisational, planning and project delivery skills with the ability to manage multiple strands of work while delivering to tight deadlines and working under pressure
