Associate Director / Senior Consultant, Strategic Communications (North and Midlands)

We are looking for someone with energy and passion to join Turley Strategic Communications - our growing team of political engagement and communications experts. It’s an exciting time to join our ambitious team and to contribute to shaping our growth and future success in the North and Midlands.

At Turley we believe in ‘Good Growth’ - and to build growth across all sectors of development you must involve people. Turley Strategic Communications focuses on people, and their influence on the planning and place-making process. We focus on community, political and media (on and offline) engagement to shape attitudes, create support and secure planning permission.

Based in Manchester, you will work alongside co-owners across a range of specialisms in planning, design, heritage, economics and sustainability, and clients delivering strategic property and infrastructure. You will contribute to, and lead on, development of strategy for major and complex public and private sector projects with the aim of minimising planning risk for our clients.

As an experienced strategic communications professional, it is crucial to the role that you can demonstrate experience in delivering political strategy and engagement together with a blend of experience and interest in community consultation and/or public relations. In particular, you will have a growing network of political relationships across Greater Manchester and/or Merseyside.

Our digital offer plays an increasing part in delivering effective communication and engagement strategies. With strong digital skills you will build support and consensus for major development projects through social media and online campaigns and be confident in delivery of both face-to-face and online virtual political, stakeholder and community engagement activity as well.

You will have previous experience at a mid-senior level in consultancy and in the planning, infrastructure or property sectors. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level; be highly organised and flexible; a skilled face-to-face communicator with excellent writing ability.

If you have a track record of engaging professionally with people on complex and controversial issues and a passion for local politics and property development, we want to hear from you. Turley operates a blended flexible working model, allowing co-owners choice, freedom and flexibility as to where, when and how they work, balancing personal, team and client requirements.

We are happy to talk about flexible working options in more detail during the recruitment process.

Turley is employee-owned and offers excellent remuneration and a flexible benefits package. This includes a flexible working allowance, pension, ownership dividend and performance related bonus.

Please send your CV, with details of major project delivery, a covering letter and details of your salary expectations to [email protected].  For more information, please contact Sophie Romain on [email protected]

No agencies please.

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment.
