The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. We are looking for a Senior Internal Communications Officer to help us refresh and develop our internal communications strategy and project delivery.

Job description

This is an exciting and interesting part time role in a busy organisation. We want our staff to have access to accurate and timely information, to be able to bring their interests and skills to life in staff events, and for collaboration to be easy. We are looking for a highly motivated and organised self-starter to lead and coordinate the development of our internal communications with staff.

The successful candidate will:

- Lead and coordinate some of the  internal communications functions at the Commission, including, but not limited to:

- Organising all-staff events
- Supporting internal communications from the Executive Team and the CEO
- Bringing in professional and creative ideas which can improve our internal communications
-  Creating internal videos about staff and projects

- Form and maintain good working relationships across the Commission to collate and explore people’s ideas. Find opportunities for staff to engage with learning and development, collaboration, inclusion and diversity and other corporate issues

- Work effectively our design agency to produce materials which bring to life our internal comms offer for staff, and with our intranet team to add to the internal communications functionality

- Create plans and processes to deliver work on time, within budget and ensure outputs are engaging and of high quality.

Role requirements

The right person for this role will establish themselves as the authoritative owner of the projects they manage. They will use their excellent interpersonal skills to develop good relationships with internal stakeholders of all levels, and be able to influence others effectively to collaborate on internal communications projects.

To be successful in this role you will need initiative and to work well without close supervision. You will also need very strong written and verbal communication skills, have excellent attention to detail and be good at timing projects and keeping to deadlines.

Being able to use sound judgement and to think creatively about how to solve problems and make improvements are also essential qualities in this role.
