About the role:

An exciting, and rare opportunity for a creative and passionate communications expert to manage the communications for G Adventures across the EMEA region, on a 14-month maternity contract ASAP.

Reporting into the Director of Marketing, within the experienced EMEA Marketing team in London, you will be supported both locally and internationally, by brilliant, positive teams, and technology.

What you'll be doing:

With no two days the same at G Adventures, the ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Implement the G Adventures communication strategy, continuing to position the brand as the leader in the adventure travel and responsible travel sector

  • Work alongside the wider G Adventures’ communication team to ensure all communication is streamlined globally 

  • Seek out newsworthy angles from across the business, working with key stakeholders to be able to share with media

  • Write and distribute press releases and other media materials to consumer and trade media

  • Collaborate with Marketing on integrated marketing, PR, social media and content initiatives

  • Tell the story of G Adventures’ purpose, continuing to position them as a leader in the responsible travel sector as a pioneer of community tourism. Work with G Adventures’ non-profit partner to tap into the human-interest stories from our social enterprise projects around the world

  • Secure and support on interviews and speaking opportunities for leaders of across the business, including founder Bruce Poon Tip and managing director, Brian Young

  • Continue to secure a high level of coverage in A list trade, consumer and broadcast media, with a focus on the UK, Ireland and DACH market

  • Scope, curate, and submit our industry award entries to maintain consistent success

  • Manage all individual press trips from UK, Irish and European media, helping them to tell the G Adventures story through first hand trip experiences

  • Lead group press trips with media from across the EMEA, where relevant

  • Identify and liaise with leading content creators for press trips and content opportunities to raise awareness of G Adventures through various social and digital channels

  • Manage G Adventures’ PR agency in Germany to share news and update, ensure they are working in line with the business strategy and generating results

  • Be voice of authority for communications across the business, sharing insights and expertise to help the business grow

  • Maintain relationships with key partners including airlines, tourism boards and travel agents, keeping them update on G Adventures news and opportunities to be able to work collaboratively on media trips and editorial 

  • Manage all press office duties including responding in timely manner to incoming media requests, monitoring all coverage and managing press lists

  • Work alongside the critical incident team to manage and respond to any crisis communication

What we’re looking for:

  • An experienced PR/ communications professional with at least 5 years of experience in agency either or in-house.

  • Must have a strong understanding of the travel industry, both consumer and trade facing, with proven understanding of how to place stories and communicated with relevant target audience

  • A team player and networker - you’ll be liaising with stakeholders across the business globally

  • A passion for travel and making the world a better place - we live and breathe our purpose of changing lives through travel and are passionate about travel’s power to make the world a better place

  • Proven experience of managing a diverse and busy communications strategy, implementing creative media and public relations campaigns that drive brand awareness and equity, while also monitoring and reporting on successes

  • An enviable little black book of travel contacts - from travel editors and freelancers to content creators and bloggers

  • Proven experience in securing A list coverage across consumer, trade media (both traditional and digital)

  • Experience in managing and quantifying content creator campaigns, ideally working with affiliates and multi-platform promotion across social media

  • Experience managing PR agencies preferable but not essential

  • Excellent writing skills, including an eye for a strong headline

  • German speaker would be advantageous, but not critical
