Job Details
An opportunity has come up for a senior strategic communications professional to join a multi-award winning team at the heart of one of the most exciting city regions in the country.
As Assistant Director of News and Media at Greater Manchester Combined Authority you’ll be in a pivotal senior role helping set, and communicate, the agenda for the organisations sitting at the heart of Greater Manchester’s ten year vision for a greener, fairer and more prosperous place and its ambitious new devolution deal.
You’ll work closely with the Mayor of Greater Manchester, as well as the Chief Executive and directors of GMCA, the Chief Fire Officer of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and the leaders and chief executives of the ten councils here.
You’ll lead both a team of news and media professionals and a wider communications and engagement team looking after broader thematic portfolios. You’ll also work closely with partners spanning all sectors in Greater Manchester
About you:
We’re looking for someone who will enjoy working in a very fast paced and high profile news and media environment. But we also want someone who can manage a complex range of clients, priorities and activities, which may change over time as the organisation and its role develop. And someone who cares deeply about looking after their team’s wellbeing and development.
In return we offer a role in a high performing organisation and well regarded organisation, with an attractive package of benefits including flexible working, generous annual leave, training and development and the opportunity to expand your boundaries beyond one ‘traditional’ organisation.
Company
In 2018 it’s at the heart of the devolution journey, a prominent voice for the North and a city region with a clear and ambitious vision to become one of the best places in the world.
Our unique integrated communications team is at the centre of this new world. We look after Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester Bev Hughes, Greater Manchester Combined Authority including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, as well as the leaders and chief executives of our ten Greater Manchester councils in their regional roles delivering our ambitious plans.
We work alongside communications colleagues in Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Police, the Local Enterprise Partnership and the Health and Social Care Partnership as well as the councils, NHS and voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.
