Opportunity

As an Associate, you will advise clients and drive execution on accounts, focusing on the delivery of workstreams and proactive development of ideas.

You will nurture a wide internal network across offices and specialisms to share, develop and deliver the best examples of work for internal and external use; as well as broadening your external network.

Our work with Foundations & Non-Profits Brunswick works with some of the biggest and most impactful foundations, philanthropists, and multilateral organizations combatting the greatest challenges of our time from pandemics to climate change, inequality to access to education.

Our two broad areas of expertise include:

  • Philanthropy: Our Philanthropy team advises philanthropists and philanthropic organizations on tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the non-profit sector, foundations, and Ultra High Net Worth giving today.
  • Global Health & Development: Our Global Health and Development team help organizations tackle some of the biggest threats to the health of humanity and prosperity of the world’s poorest people.

We are a collection of former academics, journalists, speech writers, content creators, civil society leaders, and issue specialists working across five continents. We help our clients run coordinated policy, advocacy, and communications campaigns to drive real change, as well as advising on the purpose, strategy, and communication of their giving plans and impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive execution on client accounts within the Foundations and Not for Profit practice group, managing workflow and key elements (e.g. client calls, first drafts of documents etc.).
  • Advise Foundations and Not for Profit clients across a range of issues and communications disciplines, with the support of Directors/Partners, and drawing on independent experience and insights.
  • Understand complex sector issues and the attitude of media, politicians/regulators, NGOs and other stakeholder groups.
  • Manage complex media and policy-related interactions, using advanced knowledge of media and other stakeholder landscapes.
  • Play a key role in team management and dynamics, including supporting smooth team transitions, and serving as a day-to-day mentor to junior team members.
  • Play an active role in drafting new business proposals and letters of engagement, including participating in pitch meetings.
  • Foster a network of journalist and stakeholder contacts and relationships, proactively building a network to identify new business prospects and media contacts.
  • Together with Partners and Directors, proactively drive the strategic growth of Brunswick’s Foundations and Not for Profit offer to clients
  • Proactively represent Brunswick’s Foundations and Non-Profits practice externally, and alongside other key colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Experience:

  • Experience within the philanthropic space and/or a background working with a global corporate or charitable foundation, global health organisation, NGO, or government.
  • A proven ability and expertise in advising clients and/ or other key senior stakeholders on complex strategic issues, specific to the philanthropy sector.
  • Personal passion and drive to work closely with philanthropic organisations, foundations, and multilateral organisations, helping them to bring their purpose to life and to navigate multiple challenges and opportunities.
  • A deep understanding of the intersection of business, politics, and society, particularly as it relates to this sector.
  • A proven track record of driving new business and developing a commercial offer.
  • An established network of leading thinkers, campaigners, and business leaders.
  • Experience in building or leading high-performing teams in a global multi-cultural environment.

  • An expert client handler with strong commercial and advisory skills – “consulting muscle”, providing relevant insights, guidance and advice to clients.

  • Skilled in translating trusted advisor relationships with C-suite executives and Board Directors into long-standing consulting relationships and campaigns.
