What we’re looking for
Do you want to make a difference where it matters most?
We are seeking a visionary Director to join our agency who can focus on making sure the regulation and legislation that underpins UK infrastructure is fit for a net zero future. With infrastructure at the heart of the UK's decarbonisation efforts, your expertise will ensure the transition is not only cost-effective but also nature positive.
In this new role, you will spearhead the growth of our infrastructure client base, supporting and building on our existing energy practice. This will involve leading on client acquisition and business development, and driving forward impactful strategies for leading organisations looking to influence legislation and policy.
As a Director, you will also play a key role in growing the Seahorse business and developing the team, with opportunities for line management and playing an active role in knowledge development across the organisation.
The role
- We’re looking for an energetic and entrepreneurial Director who can:
- Deliver excellent client work and isn’t afraid to get stuck in
- Grow their own practice, manage a team and pursue new business opportunities
- Be a crucial member of Seahorse’s senior team to develop our junior function and drive the culture and operations of the business
The role involves driving team and company growth. We’ll need you to:
- Effectively prioritise and respond to client servicing, team management, and capacity planning needs
- Deliver effective communication to clients and stakeholders, including building and maintaining relationships with clients, media, political figures, NGOs, and business contacts
- Lead business development initiatives such as proposals and pitches.
- Deliver insight led strategic advice on how to effectively make the case for regulatory and legislative change
- Foster positive company culture and support the Managing Director in building internal company policies and training programmes
Your experience
- 8+ years’ experience with significant time spent in a similar agency environment
- Ability to deliver a new business approach from responding to an initial client brief through to execution and evaluation
- Proven track record of providing high level political strategy and intelligence to clients, devising and implementing strategic communications plans and integrated campaigns
- Demonstrated knowledge and time advising on infrastructure related issues be it in the water sector, housing or energy and ability to develop new knowledge of emerging industries.
- Demonstrable network and experience of working with policymakers, journalists and businesses
- A history of successfully seeking out and winning new business opportunities
- Proven ability of contributing to the overall strategy of a business unit or organisation as a member of the senior leadership team
Skills and behaviours
- You enjoy working in a fast paced and varied environment and bring an enterprising and can-do attitude
- Being an inclusive leader and team player, who is committed to the development of team members
- Strong understanding of UK politics and parliamentary procedure – knowing how to influence policy development and build relationships with politicians and civil servants
- Understanding of UK media and how to develop and pitch a good story, along with strong media relationships in your field of expertise
- High standard written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including proven ability to draft copy for multiple mediums, strong storytelling ability, accurate use of language (including technical language), and attention to detail.
